Honored Artist of Russia Victor Dukaltetenko invites.
The Petersburg-Concert artists will perform the most romantic vocal cycle of M. I. Glinka's “Farewell to St. Petersburg” and other works by Russian composers.
Glinka's vocal cycle to the words of Nestor Kukolnik “Farewell to Petersburg” is the first group of romances in the history of Russian vocal lyricism, united by a common theme and published under a common title. All 12 romances included in the cycle were written by Glinka in the summer of 1840. Each of the 12 romances in its own way reflects the theme of wandering and wandering, drawing before the listener pictures of Russian nature and distant countries - Spain, Italy, Palestine. Each of them is individual in design and has its own type of structure: stanzaic, three-part, variational, etc. All romances are dedicated to Glinka’s friends and acquaintances, including the author of the words, poet Nestor Kukolnik, with whom Glinka has long maintained close friendships.
