The Riddle of Alexander Borodin

“How many gifts he received: the mighty mind of a scientist, the genius of a composer, and literary talent. He did not bury a single talent in the ground, he developed everything and gave it to the people, to humanity. He was handsome, kind, witty, always full of life and energy,” this is how critic Vladimir Stasov described Borodin.

But is there a connection between successful scientific activity and compositional creativity? How did Borodin manage to powerfully express himself in such different fields of activity? Despite numerous studies, the Borodin phenomenon still remains a mystery… The program included fragments of the opera “Prince Igor”, romances, music for string quartet, piano miniatures and literary works by A. P. Borodin.
