Concert

The Lyceum years of A.S. Pushkin are a huge and life-defining stage in his destiny. The birth of the Poet will take place in the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum. In its gardens, his first love will come to him. It was during these years that he will make his friends, to whom he will remain faithful for the rest of his life.

Pushkin's genius, his worldview were formed largely thanks to his older contemporaries and friends. The Patriotic War of 1812, in which many of his older comrades (Denis Davydov, Vasily Zhukovsky, Pyotr Chaadayev) took part, was reflected in the further work of Pushkin the Lyceum student. The awareness of the high duty of the Poet-citizen was also formed in the young Lyceum students thanks to the influence of their older comrades in the poetic workshop. This freedom-loving "Lyceum spirit" was fully understood by the imperial secret police and its secret agent Faddey Bulgarin, who proposed radical measures to exterminate it.

All these themes will be reflected in the literary and musical composition dedicated to the 213th anniversary of the Tsarskoye Selo Imperial Lyceum. The concert will feature Pushkin's poems, romances by Titov, Verstovsky, Alyabyev, Varlamov, Cui, Lyceum student Mikh. Yakovlev, and many others based on the poems of the Poet and his contemporaries, poetic and journalistic works of older contemporaries and friends: G.R. Derzhavin, V.A. Zhukovsky, D.V. Davydov, P.Ya. Chaadaev. And also piano works by the Lyceum music teacher Tepper de Ferguson, Chopin, pieces by Russian composers: M. Glinka, S. Rachmaninov, G. Sviridov and others.
