The hall opens the Great Ceremonial Enfilade of the Winter Palace. The interior was restored after the fire of 1837, and the work of V. P. Stasov brought it closer to the original project of O. R. de Montferrand, created in 1833-1834. The entrances to the hall are decorated with expressive portals that emphasize its grandeur.

The decor of the hall includes gilded bronze chandeliers and grisaille paintings depicting trophies and laurel wreaths symbolizing victories. In the piers between the pilasters are ceremonial portraits of Russian field marshals, which gave the name to this hall.

In addition, the hall presents works of Western European and Russian sculpture, as well as products of the Imperial Porcelain Factory of the first half of the 19th century. These elements combine harmoniously to create an atmosphere of wealth and grandeur that is typical of this historic place.
