A Legend of St. Petersburg Culture. A Festive Concert Dedicated to the 95th Anniversary of "Petersburg Concert"

The culminating event of the 95th anniversary celebration of "Petersburg Concert" will be a gala musical evening on September 16th in the Great Hall of the D. D. Shostakovich St. Petersburg State Philharmonic.

The program will feature performances by outstanding St. Petersburg musicians and soloists, as well as the creative ensembles of "Petersburg Concert," who will demonstrate virtuoso performance skills in the academic musical tradition. The St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Divertissement Chamber Orchestra, the St. Petersburg Chamber Choir, the Nevskie Fanfares Brass Orchestra, leading vocalists from the Petersburg Concert and invited opera stars will perform individual works as well as excerpts from operas and ballets written by the pillars of the Russian and Soviet composing school; film music by Leningrad composers; Peter the Great's cants and world-famous Soviet hits; Outrageous contemporary classics.

In this vibrant, multi-layered concert, which will surprise with its contrasting musical themes, moods, and colors, guests will hear music by Vivaldi, Shostakovich, Rachmaninoff, Bortnyansky, Arensky, Glinka, Dunaevsky, Solovyov-Sedoy, Gavrilin, Petrov, Kozhevnikov, and Kuryokhin.

The anniversary evening on September 16th will bring together the business and creative elite of St. Petersburg—friends of the Petersburg Concert—and will sound like a spiritual and patriotic ode to Russian musical culture.

The concert will be directed by Ilya Arkhipov, whose high-profile theater productions in St. Petersburg and across the country captivate experts and audiences with their fresh perspective, extraordinary artistic language, and unconventional approach to classical forms.

The concert will be hosted by Ekaterina Artyushkina and Alexander Malich.
