Symphonic Jazz. Comfort Zone

"Petersburg Concert" presents an exclusive program, "Symphocazz. Comfort Zone."

Musicians from the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Andrey Medvedev, and the star vocalists of "Petersburg Concert" will take the audience on an atmospheric, timeless journey through the musical history of the 20th and 21st centuries. Guests of the evening will be immersed in the vibrant, emotional world of a world-renowned concert style, where the aristocratic sophistication of symphonic classics harmoniously blends with the expressiveness of jazz intonations and the fiery rhythms of Latin music.

The Great Hall of the Catherine Assembly will feature expressive musical compositions—each one striking a unique chord with the listener's emotions and feelings, uniting and warming hearts.

Along with the orchestra, the leading soloists of the Petersburg Concert will showcase their vocal prowess: Anton Avdeev, laureate and Grand Prix winner of more than a dozen All-Russian and international vocal competitions; the vibrant and charismatic Ana Agrba, laureate of All-Russian and international competitions; Milana Urbanovich, laureate of the Spring of Romance competition and winner of the All-Russian competition Star Born in St. Petersburg; and winner of the show One to One! On the Rossiya-1 TV channel, Pavel Kryukov, vocalist and leader of the KRYUKOV band, is featured.

"Symphocjazz and the Pop Symphony Orchestra are two closely related musical phenomena," says Andrey Medvedev, artistic director and conductor of the St. Petersburg Pop Symphony Orchestra. "Symphocjazz is a musical genre, a fusion of classical and jazz, and our orchestra is one of the leading performers of this genre."

In the new program, I want to reveal the full beauty of the sound of symphonic jazz music and immerse the audience in a state of comfort. Essentially, symphonic jazz is our Pop Symphony Orchestra. It's just that in the 1940s, due to the negative attitude toward jazz in our country, the concepts were confused. Therefore, everything we perform is, at its core, symphonic jazz.

At the same time, the selection of the program—the choice of scores and soloists—is crucial to creating a comfortable atmosphere in the hall. We want to showcase this style in all its glory. We will certainly return to the origins of symphonic jazz and present contemporary works that, performed by our orchestra, naturally sound like symphonic jazz."
