REPEATED FALL // ROTEM WIENER TCHAIKOVSKY (Israel) TUNING // LUCAS CREW (Korea) TWO WILD TEETH. PART I (Premiere) // KANNON DANCE COMPANY

XXVIII International Contemporary Dance Festival OPEN LOOK

"Repeated Fall"

Fall. Weight and everything in between. The piece explores the body's ability to hold on while falling, to rebuild, to grasp, and to let go. Is the fall a dramatic gesture or simply a movement toward a new equilibrium and continuity? This choreographic composition is a search for inner balance: is it possible to simultaneously let go and still hold on?

The work addresses the theme of weight—both physical and emotional—expressed through the body. She searches for meaning in the body, striving to find clear definitions that can guide the creative process. She explores balance and the state of "letting go," transforming technique into emotion and uniting them to find profound meaning.

Choreography: Rotem Viner Tchaikovsky

Original Music: Rotem Viner Tchaikovsky

Duration: 15 minutes

"Tuning"

"Tuning" visualizes the process of aligning the body through rhythm and order, drawing on the structure and tension of the taiko drum.

The piece explores the dynamics of the body, repeatedly thrown off balance and relaxed, never fully attuned. Through cycles of tension and relaxation, balance and imbalance, compression and dissolution, the performers embody rhythm as structure and resistance.

Two Wild Teeth. Part I. Premiere

Inspired by the Arietta from Beethoven's final piano sonata, the production unfolds as a captivating sequence of variations. A simple impulse, like a musical theme, is repeatedly transformed, revealing to the audience a kaleidoscope of shifting physical and imaginary landscapes. Just as Beethoven's variations not only embellish the original idea but deepen its essence, here they gradually transform the original concept, giving birth to new meanings and unexpected states. Invisible forces gain physicality through a dance of gravity, inertia, resistance, attraction, and fluid change. The performance does not seek catharsis or conflict resolution. Its essence lies in the process of transformation itself, where physical actions and images emerge and develop in the continuous dialogue of the artists, born in the studio.

The production pulsates through solo parts and variations, allowing each performer to reveal the richness of their uniqueness, virtuosity, and artistic soul. In this space, solo numbers become not simply choreographic episodes but vibrant manifestations of the artists' distinctive voices, sensitivity, and inner focus, each weaving their own unique thread into the overall fabric of the performance.

Choreographer: Michael Getman (Israel)
