Guests this evening will experience more than just a concert, but an expressive show-presentation of the fantastic potential of modern percussion instruments.

In classical symphonic music, percussion instruments were used for centuries merely to create a rhythmic base and sound effects, but this situation changed radically in the 20th century. The advent of the vibraphone and marimba launched the process of transforming percussion instruments from orchestral (applied) instruments into solo instruments, possessing a unique voice and incredible effect.

Today, renowned composers around the world write original solo pieces for percussion. And almost every performance is a colorful sound show, a celebration of rhythms and timbres. The "Percussion Magic" concert in the Great Hall of the Catherine Assembly will be no exception. Young musicians have included works in the program that fully reveal the fantastic potential of percussion instruments.
