The Genius of Film Music - Alexander Zatsepin

"Petersburg Concert" is performing an encore of a sold-out theatrical concert created for the 100th anniversary of the legendary Russian composer and People's Artist of Russia Alexander Zatsepin, whose work is an integral part of Russian musical culture. His expressive melodies, recognizable from the very first notes, instantly became hits and forever captured the hearts of listeners.

Zatsepin's music occupies a special place in Russian cinema. It features in 75 films, many of which have become cult classics, and it was Zatsepin's soundtrack, vibrant, optimistic, and humorous, that played a significant role in their success.

Famous St. Petersburg artists will perform in the Small Hall of the Catherine Assembly: Anton Avdeev, a star of Russian musicals and winner of the Grand Prix at over a dozen national and international vocal competitions; Eduard Khil Jr., a worthy heir to a legendary creative dynasty; the brilliant vocalist Sergei Zykov; actress and singer Valentina Dolgina; international competition laureate Iraida Nikolaeva; international and national competition laureate Ana Agrba; one of the most stylish vocal groups in the Northern Capital, Philharmonic; as well as the Barynya State Dance Ensemble and Oleg Maximov (guitar). They will perform iconic songs from such Soviet film hits as "Kidnapping, Caucasian Style," "Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession," "The Diamond Arm," "It Can't Be!", "Sannikov Land," "June 31," and "I Came and I'm Speaking."

The evening will be hosted by Anna Fomicheva and Timofey Parikov.
