Cocktail from Bellini and Rossini

A Cocktail with Bellini and Rossini

Italian opera is always vibrant, passionate, and captivating! It also captivates with its exquisite melodies, especially when it comes to masters like Gioachino Rossini and Vincenzo Bellini. Contemporary composers, whose work spanned the first half of the 19th century, created their operatic masterpieces in the bel canto style, which literally translates as "beautiful singing."

Is it any wonder that Italian opera is so popular and enjoys millions of listeners worldwide? Perhaps it was music lovers who created the famous Rossini cocktail, created in analogy with the popular Italian Bellini, which, in turn, was named after the Renaissance painter who shared the composer's namesake.

The musical-theatrical performance will feature arias and ensemble pieces from Vincenzo Bellini's operas Norma, I Puritani, La Sonnambula, and Beatrice di Tenda, as well as The Barber of Seville, Cenerentola, L'Italiana in Algeri, and chamber vocal miniatures by Gioachino Rossini. Lyrical and humorous stories from the composers' lives, which they partially embodied in their timeless masterpieces, will complement the concert program, and listeners will have a difficult choice: which maestro will emerge victorious this time around.
