Magical snowdrops

Magic Snowdrops

The Obraz Children's Musical Theater presents a Christmas musical based on the fairy tale "Twelve Months."

A story in which winter meets spring.

A fairy tale we know,

With music we've never heard before.

And a miracle that can one day happen even in the middle of winter.

On December 29 and 30, 2026, the Catherine Assembly will host the premiere of the Christmas musical "Magic Snowdrops," a new story based on the beloved fairy tale "Twelve Months."

A stellar team of theater professionals is working on the production: Alexey Frandetti, author of the project and script, Yulia Dyakina, lyricist, and Evgeny Zagot.

On stage are actors from the Children's Musical Theater "Obraz," young musical artists from St. Petersburg, and the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra.

"Magic Snowdrops" is not a literal retelling of a familiar childhood story, but a contemporary theatrical reimagining. The performance combines a classic plot with the language of modern musical theater, preserving the essential elements: an atmosphere of miracles, the power of goodness, and faith in the impossible.

Audiences will be treated to a fairytale winter forest, Christmas magic, and a colorful stage world created with special attention to Russian cultural tradition.

The costumes are inspired by Russian style and folk motifs, and the choreography combines Russian dance and modern dance, including hip-hop.

A live orchestra transforms the performance into a grand musical event.
