Dmitry Barbashin. Piano Evening

A piano recital by "Petersburg Concert" soloist Dmitry Barbashin in the chamber hall of the Fontanka mansion - a place where the piano sounds as intended: close, detailed, without a microphone and without distance between performer and listener.

Dmitry Barbashin began his musical education at the Choral School of the Glinka State Academic Capella in the piano class of Vladislav Peisakhov, continued at the Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music with Oleg Isakov, and graduated from the Conservatory in the class of People's Artist of Russia Professor Ekaterina Murina. He has attended master classes with European professors - Hatto Baerli, Eberhard Felz, Ari Vardi, Aurèle Nicolet, and Thomas Brandis - in Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, and Goslar.

As part of the trio, he won a prize at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Competition (Finland) and participated in the Kuhmo and Kloster Frensweghen Chamber Music Festivals (Netherlands). Since 1993, he has been a soloist with the Petersburg Concert Group. In 2016, he won a diploma at the International Medtner Memorial Competition.

During his years in St. Petersburg, the pianist has performed in virtually every venue in the city - from the Shostakovich Philharmonic and the Catherine Palace to museums and libraries. At one of his solo concerts in the Small Hall of the Philharmonic, he performed all twenty-four of Chopin's etudes. He has performed concertos by J. S. Bach, W. A. ​​Mozart, L. van Beethoven, F. Chopin, and E. Grieg with orchestras.

His vocal partners included Galina Gorchakova, Natalia Evstafieva, and Natalia Kraevsky; together with Galina Gorchakova, the pianist participated in the international television project "Russian Romances in the Palaces of St. Petersburg." Dmitry Barbashin's concerts have been held in cities across Russia, as well as in the Netherlands, Finland, and Italy.
