Giselle. Classical Ballet with Video Effects

Romantic ballet in two acts.

Music: Adolphe Adam

Libretto: Vernoy Saint-Georges, Théophile Gautier

Choreography: Marius Petipa

The performance, along with classical sets and costumes, utilizes multimedia sets in the form of projections on the theater walls. This form of interaction intensifies the emotionality and drama of the plot, allowing the audience, being at the epicentre of the action, to experience new aesthetic sensations.

The mystical legend of the lost brides, retold by the 19th-century German poet Heinrich Heine, has become a masterpiece of world ballet art, thanks to the heartfelt music written by A. Adam and the choreographic genius of M. Petipa, who created the benchmark version of the ballet "Giselle."

The drama and emotion, the lyricism and musicality of the performance, shrouded in an aura of mystery, compel the audience to empathize with the characters from the first notes to the last chord.

"Dressed in wedding gowns, crowned with flowers... irresistibly beautiful, the Wilis dance in the moonlight, dancing in the dark "...more passionately and rapidly, the more they feel that their allotted hour for dancing is running out, and they must again descend into their icy graves..." (Heinrich Heine).

Short Description:

Young Count Albert is in love with a country girl, Giselle. Afraid to frighten her with his title, he meets her disguised as a peasant boy, forgetting that he has a fiancée, Bathilde, who is of the same class. Giselle reciprocates his feelings.

Hans, the local forester, also in love with Giselle, arranges for the Count to be exposed in the presence of Giselle and Bathilde. Giselle, unable to bear the deception, loses her mind and dies.

The Wilis—the ghosts of brides who died before their weddings—strive to overtake lost travelers in the cemetery. They encounter Hans, who has come to Giselle's grave, tormented by remorse. The Wilis whirl him in a ghostly circle, and he falls to the ground breathless.

The same fate awaits the inconsolable Albert, but the appearing shadow of Giselle, who retained her selfless love, protects and saves Albert from the Wilis' wrath.
