The semantics of white in art is extremely diverse. In different cultures, white symbolizes not only purity, spirituality, enlightenment, but also mourning.

In the concert of the chamber orchestra "Divertimento", which was called "White Balance", reflections on different aspects of existence, embodied in sounds, will appear in organic unity, as particles of an indivisible whole.

The program includes two compositions by Sergei Akhunov, an adherent of minimalism: "The Art of Associations" and "Passacaglia". One of the critics responded to his work as follows: "Behind each composition is a whole string of meanings and associations, poetic lines and pictorial prototypes. Behind the harmony and transparency of the sound is the author's interest in the music of the pre-Bakhovsky era. And not only pre-Bakhovskaya, but even further, back to Greek modes and numerical theories of interval structure. Behind the ideas are specific performers and friends who, one way or another, influenced the author."

The title of the work "White Balance" by Leningrad-St. Petersburg composer Anatoly Korolev, who responds to various stylistic concepts in his work, served as the name of the musical evening. The composer, who very rarely gives interviews and "falls into the spotlight," described the title phrase of the piece as follows: "Because finding the right chord is no less difficult than finding white balance."

The music of Nastasya Khrushcheva is performed on the Russian stage with a certain frequency. "The Book of Sorrow and Joy" is a composition with a happy fate, it has been presented to listeners many times, and was also included in the composer's author's album, released four years ago.

As a follower of the philosophy of metamodernism, Khrushcheva combines opposite models in the score, referring both to memories of the great past of musical art and to newfangled sound trends.

The intellectual program of the chamber orchestra "Divertimento", presented in the surroundings of the golden decoration of September, is unlikely to seem monochrome. Quite the opposite: the subtlest sound palette will be a guide to a world where the white balance is absolute, although not always obvious.
