Musical immersive performance based on the works of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky
Premiere

Arkady Gevondov's musical immersive performance is a bold interpretation of the famous novel in verse by Alexander Pushkin and the lyrical opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This is not just another production of the eternal classic, but a profound rethinking of it, allowing us to look at the internal conflicts and moral dilemmas of the characters from an unexpected angle.

"I suggest looking at Eugene Onegin through the prism of his key, in my opinion, character trait - unscrupulousness and its fatal influence on the fates of the characters," says the director. "We have all written essays about the "superfluous man", about his disappointment in the world around him and spiritual emptiness. But have we ever thought about what is the root of all of Onegin's problems? I think his lack of principles, constant compromises with his conscience, lack of an inner core and refusal to have a clear life position are to blame. All this is surprisingly in tune with today."

One of the main goals of the production is to create a bridge between two geniuses, between words and music. "I really want those who read Pushkin to come and hear how Tchaikovsky brilliantly revealed his poetry in music," explains Arkady Gevondov. "And those who know and love Tchaikovsky's opera to feel the depth of Pushkin's words anew. The performance is addressed to a wide audience, especially young people, for whom the themes of searching for oneself and life principles are especially relevant."

To convey the full power of Tchaikovsky's multi-colored orchestral palette, the creators of the performance use an original approach. The main arias and duets will be performed with piano accompaniment, and the key orchestral fragments will be professionally recorded, creating the necessary emotional depth.

The musical-immersive performance will take place in the Mirror Living Room, the Small Hall and the suite of rooms of the Kochneva House. Together with the artists, the audience will move from room to room, immersing themselves ever deeper into the atmosphere of the key scenes: from Eugene Onegin's acquaintance with the Larins to the writing of Tatyana's first love letter, from the tragic duel to the polonaise at Prince Gremin's ball.

The immersive format of the performance and the features of the historical chamber space of the Kochneva House provide incredible involvement of the audience in what is happening. The creators of the performance promise that the viewer will literally feel the artists' breath. The actors will not only have to sing masterfully, but also demonstrate high acting skills.

The creators of the play organically combine the psychological depth of Pushkin's work and the expressive beauty of Tchaikovsky's musical embodiment of poetic lines and invite the audience to think about the fates of the characters and the consequences of their choices, offering a non-trivial view of the eternal themes of love, betrayal, responsibility and self-knowledge. Don't miss the opportunity to touch the world of "Eugene Onegin" in a way you've never done before!
