Ballet in two acts with a prologue: "The Sleeping Beauty"

Meet 1.5 hours before the event.

The ticket price includes a guided tour of the palace's stately interiors, which are stunning in their luxury and the diversity of styles represented.

The production of "The Sleeping Beauty" represents the pinnacle of classical ballet in the 19th century. It was created in 1890 for the Imperial Mariinsky Theatre with the participation of two geniuses—composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreographer Marius Petipa. Grandiose ensemble numbers, mime scenes, virtuoso duets, and variations reflect the diversity of choreographic forms that have accumulated in classical ballet since its inception.

The play's libretto, based on Charles Perrault's fairy tale, illustrates the story of Princess Aurora, awakened from a century-long sleep by the kiss of a handsome prince. Light-winged fairies and the sinister fairy Carabosse, with her demonic retinue, express the dialectic of existence in the play, asking the protagonists to make a difficult choice between good and evil.

Prince Désiré embodies the image of the Sun King—Louis XIV, an absolute monarch and a perfect man. At the play's finale, when the action moves to the palace, the audience is presented with images of Versailles and the lavish ceremony associated with it. The courtiers' place in the beautiful interiors is taken by fairytale characters—the Blue Bird, Puss in Boots and the White Cat, Little Red Riding Hood and the Gray Wolf, Cinderella and Prince Fortuné—who dance at the wedding celebration in honor of Désirée and Aurora. Mikhail Venshchikov's production of "The Sleeping Beauty" (2019) retains all the most famous fragments of the original Mariinsky Theatre production. At the same time, the action becomes more dynamic, and the main characters' roles more virtuosic. Characters previously performed solely through facial expression—the fairy Carabosse, the princes who are suitors for Aurora's hand, Catalabutte, and others—acquire full-fledged dance forms. The Saint-Michel Art Center develops the glorious traditions of Russian classical ballet, presenting its finest examples in Europe, Japan, and Latin America. Drawing on the experience of Sergei Diaghilev's "Russian Seasons," the company doesn't limit itself to working with established brands in the performing and choreographic arts, but is open to experimentation and the exploration of new forms. Revisiting period choreography, staging concert programs, and creating new full-length productions are the result of the work of a talented team of like-minded individuals. Today, we collaborate with specialists with extensive experience in choreography, music, and theatrical design.

The performance is performed with a soundtrack.

Children ages 0 and up must purchase a full-price ticket.
