Main Headquarters of the State Hermitage Museum | St.Petersburg, Russia

The General Staff Building (General Staff and Ministries) is a historical monument located on Palace Square in St. Petersburg. Its construction lasted from 1819 to 1829 under the supervision of the architect K. I. Rossi. The sculptural decoration was carried out by S. S. Pimenov and V. I. Demut-Malinovsky.

The western part of the building now serves as the command of the Leningrad Military District of Russia. In turn, the eastern part has been part of the State Hermitage Museum since 1999. It presents unique collections, including works of Western European art of the 19th-20th centuries.

In 2013, a complete reconstruction of the East Wing was completed, which made it possible to place new exhibitions and temporary exhibitions of contemporary art. This transformation significantly enriched the cultural space of the city and attracted new visitors.

In addition, the General Staff Building serves as an important venue for temporary exhibitions and cultural events.
